You are cordially invited to a guest speaker event hosted by DV Institute on the topic of Emotion Science, Mental Illness, and Psychotherapy. This talk by Dr. Skye Fitzpatrick will provide an overview of the science of emotions, and how they work to perpetuate mental illnesses, anxiety, and problems with mood. It will also provide an overview with evidence-based ways of understanding and treating a range of emotional problems.

About the speaker:

Dr. Skye Fitzpatrick is a clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at York University in Toronto, Canada. As the director of the TULiP lab (which stands for Treating and Understanding Life-threatening behaviour and Posttraumatic stress lab), she conducts internationally-recognized work on identifying ways to optimize, expand access to, and quicken psychotherapeutic treatments for individuals with post traumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder, and chronic suicidal and self-injurious thoughts and behaviours.
